How We Support Online Breast Health Consultations
Our virtual consultations are designed to support women in making informed decisions about their breast health. At QuickStop Health, we provide online breast health consultations through our women’s health telehealth services. Whether you’ve found a lump, feel overdue for a check-in, or have questions about your family history, we’re here to listen without judgment and guide you forward.
During your virtual visit, your provider will ask about:
- Any recent changes in your breast appearance or texture
- Unusual sensations like tenderness, tingling, or pain
- Personal and family history of breast or ovarian cancer
- Your mammogram screening schedule, if applicable
- Risk factors like age, hormone use, or genetic predisposition
What We Can Recommend (and What We Don’t Do Online)
- Help you understand breast cancer symptoms
- Explain when and why to get a breast exam or mammogram
- Refer you to local imaging centers
- Discuss eligibility for genetic testing for breast cancer
- Offer guidance on lifestyle changes that support breast health
There are a few things we don’t do during virtual visits, and we’ll always be upfront about that. Our goal is to guide you safely and confidently toward the right next step, even if it means in-person care. We don’t:
- Perform physical breast exams
- Order mammograms directly (we refer you instead)
- Diagnose cancer or provide biopsy results
- Manage breast cancer treatment (but we can help you start the process)
Breast Cancer 101: What It Is and Why Early Screening Matters
Breast cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells in the breast begin to grow uncontrollably. These cells can form a lump or mass and may eventually spread to other parts of the body if not treated. Some types of breast cancer grow slowly, while others progress more quickly, but early detection significantly improves the chances of effective treatment and long-term survival.
Routine screening is one of the most effective tools for detecting breast cancer early, often before symptoms begin. Staying current with your screenings is important even if you feel completely healthy.
What Causes Breast Cancer and Who’s at Risk?
There’s no single cause of breast cancer. Instead, a combination of genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors can contribute. Having one or more risk factors doesn’t mean you’ll develop breast cancer. It simply means it’s wise to be more proactive with prevention and screening.
Some known risk factors include:
- Age: The risk increases with age, especially after 50
- Family history: Having close relatives (mother, sister, daughter) with breast or ovarian cancer
- Inherited genetic mutations: Such as BRCA1 or BRCA2
- Reproductive history: Early menstruation (before age 12) or late menopause (after 55)
- Hormone exposure: Long-term use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
- Dense breast tissue: Makes tumors harder to see on mammograms and may increase risk
- Lifestyle factors: Smoking, alcohol use, obesity, and lack of physical activity

Signs It’s Time to Book Your Online Appointment
You don’t need to wait for a lump to appear before taking action. If something feels off, or you simply have questions, your visit can bring peace of mind and next steps. Reach out if you:
- Feel a new lump, firmness, or thickening in the breast or underarm
- Notice dimpling or puckering in the skin
- See nipple changes (retraction, redness, discharge)
- Have breast pain that doesn’t go away
- Are due for a mammogram or need help scheduling one
- Want to understand your risk based on family history
When It’s Better to Go Straight to the ER for Breast Concerns
- Rapid swelling in one breast
- Warmth, redness, or shiny skin that feels inflamed
- Severe pain accompanied by fever (could be infection)
- Sudden shortness of breath or chest discomfort
- A firm lump that seems to grow quickly
What Happens If You Wait Too Long?
Being proactive today can protect your health and your peace of mind in the future. Even if it’s just a check-in, early conversations are powerful. Delaying breast health care may lead to:
- Cancer developing into a more advanced stage
- Fewer treatment options
- Increased physical and emotional stress
- Missed window for preventive care
- Higher medical costs in the long run
